Sweeter than Sorrow is an amazing indie solo project by the singer, songwriter, and producer Mattias Wahlberg. The Swedish musician has gained popularity for his unique mellow music that carries a lot of emotions. Inspired by legends like Cigarettes After Sex, Sufjan Stevens, and many more his music is chill and relaxed with a touch of folk.

Sweeter than Sorrow has released 4 songs since his debut in 2021. Having reviewed his last song “Into the Night” which got over 100k streams, I am all excited to listen to his latest track called “Somersaults”. Let’s talk about the song and its ingredients in detail. The song starts with a beautiful piano and a classic chord progression that steals the show. The intro is melancholic and chill and soon the vocals of Mattias enter. The vocals of Mattias are unique as he sings with heavy vibrato and on a softer side. The melody is mesmerizing and has so much warmth as the song progresses. The chorus is so good with layered vocals and harmonies blending perfectly with the melody. The song has a little opera vibe with its instrumentation and production. In the end, the finishes off with the same piano section as the intro, quietly and calmly.

“Somersaults” is yet another song that defines Sweeter than Sorrow’s genius. It is highly recommended to listen to the song.
