Animate – The Colour of a New Day | Soulful

Animate is an ambitious project led by two exceptional musicians from Italy. The man leading the band is Luigi Surdo who plays guitar, synth, writes lyrics, and drum programming, and Filippo Corciulo on the bass guitar. With their fresh indie folk sound and amazing songwriting, the duo has a very unique way to approach music.

Animate debuted with their single in 2021 called “Tomorrowland” and since have released several more singles. They are back with yet another masterpiece called “The Colour of a New Day”. Let’s talk about the song and its ingredients in detail. The song starts with a mellow acoustic guitar, playing chords in a finger-picking method. Soon the vocals of Luigi kick in with a lot of power and energy. The melody is very beautiful and follows the chord pattern. The song lifts up in the pre-chorus where the melody changes and rises till the chorus. The chorus of the song is simple yet so beautiful and sounds wonderful. The subtle brilliance in the songwriting and lyrical rhymes shows the capability of Animate. Luigi’s accent also has a major impact on the song. The way he pronounces certain words is also adding to the beauty of the song. The song follows the same pattern throughout and even though it doesn’t have a notable bridge section, it sounds like a one-shot film made with pure brilliance.

“The Colour of a New Day” is an amazing song with a lot of little details that can only be noted after listening to it. Animate is a power duo making phenomenal music and you should definitely listen to their new single.
