Con:ter Introduces a Very Modern Rock Soundscape Through Their Song, Kommst Du Mit

The song by Con:ter, Kommst Du Mit from their self-titled debut album, is a modern alternative rock composition at its core. It starts off on a suspenseful note with a guitar riff that instantly grabs the listeners’ attention. A steady groove keeps the pulse of the track consistent from start to finish. The guitars sit at the forefront of the soundscape, with exceptional tones and really appealing riffs and progressions. Beyond that, the vocals are one of the most phenomenal aspects of the composition. The overall production is also flawless, making it a truly enjoyable track to listen to.

We were lucky to speak to Con:ter. They were kind enough to share some details about Kommst Du Mit. So, let’s dive right into it and check out what they had to say!

The interview in German.

1) Hello! The song, Kommst Du Mit, is a mind-blowing composition, and it will surely catch the listeners’ attention instantly. So before we get to the song, would you like to tell us a bit about the origin of CON:TER and your journey so far?

2) Now we would really like you to share how you came up with the idea for this song. Did the lyrics come first, and then the composition happened in the flow? Or is it the other way round?

3) Please take us through the track’s recording process. Was the whole recording done in one go together with the full band? Or were the recordings done part-by-part?

4) During the process of writing and composing this song, did you have a vision of how you wanted it to sound finally? If so, then do you think the result is somewhat similar to how you imagined it?

5) What can the fans expect from CON:TER in the future?

Here’s the interview in English.

1) Hello! The song, …Kommst Du Mit, is a mind-blowing composition, and it will surely catch the listeners’ attention instantly. So before we get to the song, would you like to tell us a bit about the origin of CON:TER and your journey so far?

Con:ter actually started out as purely a rehearsal room project. All former and current band members were—and still are—involved in other projects, so the focus was less on touring and more on getting together with old friends and doing exactly what we felt like doing: making good music. That’s why you haven’t really heard much from Con:ter yet

2) Now we would really like you to share how you came up with the idea for this song. Did the lyrics come first, and then the composition happened in the flow? Or is it the other way round?

We always write our songs together. Everyone throws their ideas into the mix, and then we work on them together. Usually, the basic musical idea comes first, and then Denis (vocals) writes the lyrics to it. He often comes up with several sets of lyrics for different melodies based on the same song idea. The band then chooses which melody feels best when played. And then we shape it into a song together.

For “Kommst du mit,” the guitar riff for the verse came first. We felt that, combined with the drums, it had the drive of “Like a Stone” (Audioslave). Sometimes song ideas almost write themselves because the idea for the next few bars just comes to us. That’s how it was with this song. It’s about our quest for self-fulfillment. Often, that isn’t possible where we were born. Then it takes courage to set out and change. Or it takes someone to accompany us. Everyone should have the right to seek their happiness, anywhere.

3) Please take us through the track’s recording process. Was the whole recording done in one go together with the full band? Or were the recordings done part-by-part?

We recorded the album in early 2026 in our rehearsal space; I think we had everything wrapped up within two months. Unlike our 2022 EP “Heimlich, Still und Live,” this time we tracked each instrument separately. Robert (guitar) was always there as our recording engineer and musical mastermind.

4) During the process of writing and composing this song, did you have a vision of how you wanted it to sound finally? If so, then do you think the result is somewhat similar to how you imagined it?

We all have pretty specific ideas about how the music we like to listen to should sound—and, consequently, how the music we make should sound. At first, we didn’t have any concrete plans for an album; we’ve actually had some of the songs (and their corresponding recordings) in our repertoire since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last year, we decided to re-record songs that we considered “particularly polished” to capture them in our current band sound and then call the whole thing an “album.” We’re lucky to have Robert in the band, who’s able to translate these sound visions into knobs and controls. Working with our mastering engineer Paul Linde, we ended up with a sound we can all agree on without debate—one we’re very proud of, and I think we have every reason to be.

5) What can the fans expect from CON:TER in the future?

Not least because of the album and its production, Con:ter has become our labor of love. Since we all already have band and stage experience, we don’t need to take ourselves too seriously, and I suggest we flip the burden of proof on this question: We’re excited to see what the future holds—we hope our music finds an audience, and we’re ready for anything—together with everyone who’s up for joining us, to come back to the single’s title.
