Judy Pearson is a London-based singer-songwriter who is known and loved for her soul-touching, immersive songwriting, gorgeously expressive vocals, and a narrative-based musicality that lends her pop music an edge. Having begun writing her own songs since the COVID lockdown, she has a rather refreshing musical style that blends contemporary pop motifs with the good old retro elements.
Recently, Judy Pearson released an album called ‘Diary of a Heartbreak (Chapter Two)’ -a song that talks about the gloom and isolation that follows after a failed relationship, but also how it can empower you through self-discovery and emotional independence. The song feels quite universally relevant, and the soaring vocals along with brilliant acoustic textures make every word sung and every melody stir the soul of the listener. It celebrates self-recognition in ways that are rarely talked about – by claiming every bit of yourself that might have previously been neglected or undervalued. Pearson transforms despair and doubt into a beautiful and expressive confidence.
The soundscapes too are nothing short of heartwarming because the EP beautifully embraces a stripped-back, rustic yet smooth acoustic-pop style that perfectly highlights Pearson’s songwriting and how intentional every single melody feels. What’s also just as profound is the masterful production by Jeremy Rompala, which renders the song a natural restraint, elevating the song’s magic even further. What will strike you the most is how Taylor-Swift-coded the song is and how seamlessly the song taps into the confessional-pop sensibility, turning personal experiences into relatable, soul-touching narratives.

The four tracks explore different stages and colours of recovery. “Jade” draws a beautiful parallel of a gemstone representing the lasting impression someone leaves behind. It’s not just an intriguing lyrical concept that impeccably blends disbelief and dry humour, but it also thrives incredibly on some of the most melodiously rich and vocally strong numbers on the album.
Another track, “No One Else Like Me”, is a perfect dose of self-confidence and motivation if you are looking for it. It talks about owning oneself and the quality of being “irreplaceable” – which almost appears self-defiant, but totally wins your admiration.
Diary of a Heartbreak (Chapter Two) stands out because of how creative and expressive the whole EP is. With writing that feels relevant and hits home, vocals that soothe the soul, and musicality that wins your heart, this album deserves a spot on your playlist!
