Brad Wolfe and the Moon combines music, community work, and other creative pursuits to explore how people face love, bereavement, and life’s uncertainty. His band, Brad Wolfe & the Moon, has appeared on MTV and performed alongside well-known groups and musicians.
A personal loss shaped much of Wolfe’s work. While his childhood friend Sara was being treated for cancer, he brought his guitar to the hospital and wrote songs with her. After she died at 21, he started the Sunbeam Foundation to fund pediatric cancer research and formed the band to share music inspired by their friendship. The foundation has raised over $1 million. Wolfe later founded Reimagine, a nonprofit that creates programs for people dealing with grief and other difficult experiences. Its work has reached more than 250,000 people.

Brad Wolfe’s new EP, “Vol. 1: Loss”, moves through grief, love, heartbreak, and the moments that make life meaningful. It opens with “Why Wait,” a warm, life-affirming track that’s immediately easy on the ears. Its cinematic chorus is especially beautiful, giving the song an expansive, moving quality.
At its heart, “Why Wait” confronts the reality of death to explore the urgency and beauty of being alive. It raises big questions about existence, what happens after death, and what remains of us, but doesn’t try to offer definitive answers. Instead, it suggests that love, human connection, and the experiences we share are what give life its meaning.
“Cover You in Flowers” turns inward, with a melancholy, vulnerable mood, expressive vocals, and moving instrumentation. The song captures the fear of losing someone you love and the desire to preserve every moment with them. It sits in that painful space of grieving before a loss has happened, aware that time together may be running out.

The line “I made a promise to love you till your last breath” carries the song’s emotional heart. Love becomes more than a feeling; it’s a commitment to stay present through life’s hardest moments. The narrator wants to hold on to every detail – the person’s face, the sound of their voice, knowing that one day those memories may be all that remain.
Then “Champagne Dreams” brings a burst of upbeat energy. Its lively rhythm and bright, energetic riffs create a happy, infectious mood that makes you smile along. But beneath that buoyant sound is a relationship story that takes a painful turn. At first, the lovers feel like royalty in a private fairytale, building a world of their own and believing their love can last forever. The jungle and forest imagery gives their romance a wild, untouched quality.
As time passes, though, the fairytale begins to unravel. The passion that once brought them together becomes destructive, and the future they imagined slips away. The images of the torn white dress and discarded crowns are especially poignant: the fantasy falls away, leaving two people facing the loss of the life they hoped to share.
The EP closes with “Driftwood,” a four-minute acoustic track built around classical guitar and a poignant, heartfelt arrangement. It’s the kind of song that quietly draws you in and leaves you genuinely moved. The hook, “I was drifting away until you came,” feels strikingly honest. A simple line that holds a lot of emotion.
Across Loss Vol. 1, Brad Wolfe pairs warmth and beauty with difficult truths. The result is an intimate, moving collection about holding on to love, facing what may be lost, and finding meaning in the time we have.
