Steven Wilson’s ninth solo album, Requiem for a Village, arrives November 6, blending progressive rock with British folklore and offering Indian fans an exclusive double-vinyl edition through The Revolver Club.
Progressive rock visionary Steven Wilson returns with his ninth solo studio album, Requiem for a Village, releasing on November 6, 2026, through Fiction Records. Following 2025’s ambitious The Overview, Wilson ventures into the unsettling world of British folklore, weaving together progressive rock, atmospheric electronica and dark folk influences.
Spanning 54 minutes, the album presents a cinematic narrative set in an imaginary village steeped in mystery and mythology. Featuring narration by acclaimed actor David Tennant (of Doctor Who fame) written by XTC’s Andy Partridge, the record promises an immersive listening experience.
Wilson has also embraced an unconventional recording approach, favouring analogue synthesisers, organic instrumentation and spontaneous imperfections over digital correction. The result promises a distinctly human musical experience, reflecting his continued fascination with experimentation and storytelling.
Ahead of the album’s release, Wilson has already unveiled several tracks, including “On Chapel Slope” and “A Basket of Bees”, accompanied by music videos. Speaking to XS Noize in October, Wilson also discussed the record’s folk-horror influences, his concerns about AI-generated music, and the possibility of expanding the album’s fictional universe into a trilogy.
For Indian collectors, The Revolver Club is offering a special dark green double-vinyl edition, presented in gatefold packaging with an India-exclusive 12 × 12-inch art print. The exclusive insert is a must-get collectible for Steven Wilson fans in India.
