Red Bird is a band of some amazingly talented musicians, that are here with their wild blend of soul/blues and mind-blowing songwriting. Based in Portland, Oregon, they have gained quite a fan following with their soulful music. Red Bird is a four-piece band with Bre Gregg as the lead singer, Dan Gildea as the guitarist, Jeff Langston on the bass, and Charlie Doggett on the drums.
Red Bird has released several singles, two EPs, and a full-length live album recorded at the Alberta Rose Theatre and soon planning to release their first full-length studio album. They are back with yet another soulful song with hints of jazz and funk called “Real”.
Talking about the song and its ingredients in detail. The song starts on an electric guitar with some very unusual chords. Swiftly a slap on the snare drum kicks in and everything comes at once, the vocals, the bass, drumbeat, some organs, and electric guitar. The drum beat is the heart of the groove for the song, it is so simple yet powerful. Bre’s vocals are just electrifying, her voice is so deep and gruffly that every word she sings makes an impact. The bass guitar and electric guitar are responsible for the funkiness of the song, they both are very subtle yet so perfectly placed. The song’s melody is unique due to the varying chords, but bre has sung so brilliantly making it look effortless. The song has everything you need, a funk/jazz vibe, amazing vocals, and even a sick guitar solo that kick in before the bridge. “Real” toward the end, takes you to another dimension where the whole feel of the song is transformed. The song is worth listening to for the end part, the brilliancy of all artists just shines through.
“Real” is an output of the talent and genius of Red Bird, they have just created a masterpiece. It is highly recommended to listen to the song, once.
