Virgin Orchestra – On Your Knees |Electrifying

Virgin Orchestra is an experimental post-punk band based in Reykjavík, Iceland. They are a three-piece band consisting of Stefanía Pàlsdóttir, Satrri Holm, and Rún Árandóttir. These three met at an art school band and recognized that they share the same mindset and love for music. While each has a completely different style of music and taste, they all come together and make some exceptional music. Virgin Orchestra doesn’t make music for the band but also works on other projects and produces music individually.

Virgin Orchestra has released two singles now called “Give In” and “On Your Knees” and will soon release an ep. Let’s talk about the song “On Your Knees” in detail.

The song starts with a note on a synth bass and an oscillating pad that has a very atmospheric feel. The note sustains for a while until a rising cello kick in the main guitar riff. The main guitar riff is played on electric guitar followed by a pad, heavy bass, and a soft drum beat that is perfectly mastered. This intro continues for several bars with little changes. Soon after this long intro, the vocals kick in with a very dreamy vibe. The singing style is quite unique and lowkey and with the singing, the drums and other instruments sort of mellow down to enhance the feel of the vocals. The song is electrifying, dreamy, and has its own magic. It has a lot more to offer that can only be experienced via listening.

Virgin Orchestra has just taken a step into the music scene but has made some very good songs. It is highly recommended to listen to “On Your Knees” as well as “Give In”.
