Kevin Rieth – Hug The Line | Trance

‘Hug The Line’ is Kevin Rieth’s latest release. The alternate rock project is incredibly playful in its instrumentation, and has many layers. The song combines energies that would otherwise be considered opposites. To be specific, it has a slow beat, and mellowed reverb on the electric guitar. Thus, the final result is somewhere in the realm of psychedelic rock. Moreover, Kevin Rieth admits he blends and crossfades between genres, and doesn’t find himself to fit within a label.

Speaking sonically, as you float through the electric guitar riffs and the hypnotizing vocalizations of the song, you recognize the ambiguity layered within. Not everything the singer is saying is coherent; some of it clearly is a mess! However, the chorus puts it into perspective. It becomes clear that the artist is floating somewhere between the distinctions of awareness and intoxication.

Kevin Rieth is heavily inspired by UK musicians including Amy Winehouse, The Kinks, Adele, and others. He has been a massive fan of The Beetles since he was only three! To no one’s surprise, he is thrilled to set foot in the UK music scene alongside his bandmates, though he is originally from San Diego, California. Finally, this multi-instrumentalist and singer has got ample talent, and his trusted bandmates help him bring his magical tunes to life — in the studio and on stage!
