Bygone is the debut single from music project and artist Coral Gables based out of Denton, Texas. This contemporary pop single talks about bygone relationships in a digital age, and even how the memory and body deal with that slow-moving trauma of loss
The song opens with acoustic guitar which sticks around for the length of the song. The use of such a humble instrument is what connects with the lyrical content. Furthermore, the verses flow like poetry, and the vocals remind me of James Blunt with their raw nakedness. The chorus serves as a pleasant hook which highlights the singer’s voice. And the overall feeling of the song is reflective and hopeful, where the artist looks back with regret no more, only fondness.
Being a newbie, there isn’t much on the internet about Coral Gables except for his debut single. And good for him – it shows a lot of promise. The song Bygone was recorded only recently in January and February of this year. However, it was written in October of 2019, which feels a long time ago. It has been in the works for quite some time, it clearly means a lot to the musician. And to think the artist ventured on this exploration before the lockdown even began. In conclusion, it’s no surprise that Bygone is so high quality. When their music means something to the artist, it is always well executed.
