Pale Moon – Strange Days | Amusing, eclectic existentialism

Strange Days by Pale Days is an alt-rock single with a funky beat and a vibrant instrument set up. It is a song about the strange days when we wake up with a disconnected mind and reality only seems an outdated experience. Hence, the song is a little bit existential and a little bit eclectic – that’s just how Pale Moon does it!

Opening with chiming sounds, the beat of Strange Days is bold and playful. It nicely strings in the electric guitar – especially during the chorus. It has the mellowness of British rock, and yet it holds its own with a strong focus on pop-style hooks and melodies which are interspersed across the length of the track. The vocalist’s soft voice fits the track like a template, and maybe that’s part of the plan. She sings that the alienation started after going through an old yearbook and grappling with the changes in life since. She woke up on the wrong side of the bed, and now she is thinking about everyone dying facedown in streets full of prostitutes.

Pale Moon is an Iceland/Russian duo comprising of Nata and Arni. Now based out of Barcelona, the two create beguiling music during the night. Their signature style is a combination of psychedelic and alternative rock, using which they create rich soundscapes. Their sound includes multiple elements in each song, and with their rock arrangements, they are able to transport listeners to a different time altogether.
