Trail Hawk – La La Land

Trail Hawk blends rock grooves with social commentary on ‘La La Land’

Kentucky-based musician Trail Hawk returns with La La Land, a lively rock number that combines infectious grooves with meaningful social commentary. Drawing from vintage rock sounds, the track brings together elements of funk, blues and classic rock, resulting in an enjoyable listening experience.

The song opens with a catchy, sharp guitar riff that immediately grabs the listener’s attention. Trail Hawk’s vocals carry an impressive range, with a distinctive twang that complements the track’s country rock sensibilities. The guitar work is particularly enjoyable throughout, with the riffs and melodic passages providing much of the song’s character. There is an infectious energy to the arrangement that makes La La Land an excellent companion for a long drive.

In an interview with Dulaxi, Trail Hawk described the track as a fusion of funk and country rock, drawing inspiration from the late 1960s and 1970s while incorporating a contemporary rhythmic approach. As he says, “La La Land is a funk country rock song that deals with the addiction and homelessness problem. But also points out the addiction to money and being so caught up in our own lives that we all live some form of La La Land”. He also explained how the composition addresses homelessness, substance addiction and society’s preoccupation with wealth. I must say the song is well produced and mixed as well.

Interestingly, the song’s title alludes to the different forms of escapism that shape contemporary existence. Trail Hawk explores how people become consumed by their own circumstances, often overlooking the struggles of those around them.

With its memorable guitar riffs, engaging vocals and accessible melodies, La La Land succeeds as an entertaining rock number with a worthwhile message. It is the sort of song that makes for a great driving soundtrack while giving listeners something to reflect upon long after the music ends.
