Lost Balloons by Fintan McKahey is a lo-fi track that seems like the perfect soundtrack to a lazy Saturday afternoon at home. It’s a song about independence and not rushing into a relationship out of loneliness or boredom.
Fintan McKahey is no newcomer to the scene – his music has long been earning him accolades. He has been working on his passion full time since 2016. The Irish musician is a multi-instrumental genius. This helps him bring his singing and songwriting to life. In his latest track Lost Balloons, McKahey is very mature and poised. In his deep, sexy vocals, McKahey says to his lover, “we can play with lost balloons.” This is a metaphor for giving each other company and affection while they find themselves and their own directions.
The length of the track is slightly shorter than most songs, which is why it is structured differently as well. It is a beautiful combination of acoustic and electric elements. Electric percussion, acoustic guitar, and reverb are primarily all that the music uses to build a song that feels like it floats through time. Further, it is blasphemous to not acknowledge the impact of McKahey’s low baritone on Lost Balloons, and his music in general.
