Kaiwyn – The Cut After The First

What hurts the most? | Australia-based Doctor & Artist Kaiwyn wows with single ‘The Cut After The First’

They say the first cut is the deepest but the one after can hurt much, much worse. In his latest single ‘The Cut After The First,’ Kaiwyn  (pronounced kai-wern) details how his trust was broekn. He trusted someone again, after they let him down once. And the hurt he experienced when they hurt him the second time was way worse.

The song tells this story with some hurt, but much compassion. The artist composed ‘The Cut After The First’ when he was in high school. That explains why it takes you back to a soft rock love ballad from the 2000s. It is structured like a traditional pop song with verses and a bridge, and the composition is really polished, matching the potent storytelling.

Kaiwyn is a doctor by education – and his life as a musician is the byproduct of a lifetime of loving poetry. The musician has roots in Malaysia, but now is based out of Australia. A young Kaiwyn often wrote poems and blogs reflecting on his experiences and emotions. Eventually this transpired into writing lyrics, tune floated in. But none of it saw daylight until the young artist had finished his medical training. And now the songs he held onto for so long are out of the vault.

While ‘The Cut After The First’ is the story of being broken and abandoned, it has a much more hopeful side B track. ‘Future Me’ is a letter to the self in the future, reminding them that you will be proud of yourself.

Well, as a listener, the last thing I’d like to say is that this one can fix you inside out. Check out ‘The Cut After The First’ from Kaiwyn here:
