Ullrson and DVARA Collide Folk Ritual and Techno on “Hafta As (Ullrson Remix)”

British producer and DJ Ullrson, the electronic project of Nick Bowman, released Hafta As (Ullrson Remix) on May 22, 2026 through Ullrson Records. Reworking music from dark folk pagan band DVARA, the track blends heavy techno production with ancient ritualistic textures and Viking-inspired atmosphere. DVARA, formed by multi-instrumentalists Voron and Galya, perform in the nearly forgotten Scythian language, while Ullrson turns the remix into massive warehouse and festival territory through his self-described “Viking Techno” sound.

Hafta As (Ullrson Remix) opens on a haunting chant in the extinct Scythian language: “Hafta as koruk raz” — “Seven gods guide us by the star.” Before the beat even properly arrives, the track already feels less like a song and more like stumbling into some forbidden ritual deep inside a fog-covered forest rave at night without remembering how you got there in the first place.

The remix runs for seven full minutes and completely commits to that atmosphere. Deep throat singing rumbles underneath ritualistic female vocals while shamanic percussion, cello, and old folk strings slowly circle around the track. Then war horns, flutes, and old folk instruments keep weaving in and out around the beat. Unpolished, rough, smoky, and physical, like standing in the middle of a crowd dancing around a firelight somewhere deep in the woods at night, is what this track sounds like.

It also quietly pulls together different ancient warrior cultures through its atmosphere. The ritual chants and throat singing carry traces of old Scythian traditions, while Ullrson’s heavier, battle-like production brings in strong Norse influences tied to his Viking Techno style and namesake, Ullr, the Norse god of archery. Even with the massive techno production, the remix never buries DVARA’s original folk instrumentation and ritual elements underneath the beat. Finally, Hafta As (Ullrson Remix) feels immersive, and strangely hypnotic as it pulls you further into some half-forgotten ceremony until the outside world disappears completely.
