Indie-rock musician Daniel Karl Morgan, based in Llanelli, South Wales, returns with Speak the Truth, a 2026 acoustic pop-rock single. His sound draws from ’70s classic rock, ’90s indie-rock, grunge, prog, and songwriters like Bob Dylan, Nick Drake, and Jeff Buckley. Performing and recording as a singer-songwriter since 2000, he has also fronted the Welsh bands Artimus Crisis and Time Circus. Now, his latest single is part of his upcoming album, Is the Sky Before Me or Is It the Sea?

Speak the Truth opens on pop-sounding acoustics, setting that easy, bright tone. It sounds like a beach song, one that you play as you pull up, engine off but the car speakers still blasting. The acoustics, the arrangement, and the melody all lean into that feeling, something light on the surface but steady.
The lyrics, on the other hand, go somewhere more direct. “Speak the truth… you’re a chancer, can I get an answer?” goes straight at someone who is avoidant, or just not fully there. Lines like, “And it makes no sense to keep me hangin’ on in a state of suspense, just speak the truth” and “I’ve never been a liar and here’s the proof,” feel aimed at that exact kind of silence—the kind you get in the talking stage when answers never fully come.

Speak the Truth is the kind of track that is bearing its soul, asking someone you’re completely gone for what they actually want to do with this heart of yours. “Got to build a wall before you build a roof… got to be sure…” And it keeps pushing for that answer throughout the track, only for it to fade out with a cheeky comment that undercuts it all slightly.
