We Want Funkey! sounds like you’ve stepped into an 80s movie set, with the funk elements colouring the sound, and then the lyrics roll in, “Let me dance to the music…we want fun, we want funky.” Immediately, it pulls you into a party scene, with yellow, red, and orange lights hitting the place all over, the floor crowded with a sea of bell-bottom jeans and people just jiving.

The era of golden music breathes again on this track, the kind of music people used to escape with to forget about a hard day at work. It keeps things light, letting you drop everything and just have fun for a while. Moreover, it holds that same carefree spirit throughout its entire run.

The chorus brings in backing vocals and harmonies that build that crowd-fun-with-strangers vibe. Then the climax just loops, “Raise your hands to the sky…you should try, don’t be shy,” and it keeps going until it fades out. Instead of ending clean, it just drifts, like the party’s still going somewhere else.
