Sebastian Rydgren is a Swedish artist, songwriter, and DJ who gained attention after reaching the finals of Swedish Idol 2022. Since then, he has been shaping a more personal, independent pop sound, moving between projects under his own name and past aliases. Now he releases his latest soulful pop single Talk To Me, on March 20, 2024, that focuses on miscommunication and the distance it creates.

Talk To Me sounds almost nostalgic, like the tune you’d hear in a moving car at night, when you’ve just cried after not being able to tell your parents why they hurt you, or from the TVs in a store playing some random music video. Somehow, that melody sticks, and it turns into a core memory you keep going back to, even if the moment felt small.
“Talk to me, could you talk to me?” the lyrics just sit there, straight up pleading. Then it goes, “we could be like them, only you and me could understand…tell me what to say so you could say,” and it keeps pushing at that one person who won’t meet you halfway. Meanwhile, the bright pop melody comes in and almost fools you into thinking it’s lighter than it is. At the same time, it’s that same contrast that keeps pulling you back in.

It sounds like leaving a million messages to someone who won’t reply, and you keep going anyway, even when you know it’s pointless. Talk to Me stays right there, stuck in that gap, restless, and a little desperate.

Figuring out my path while actively plotting ten others. Serious about my dreams with somewhat chaotic ambition. Will do anything for cats.
