From the vibrancy of Istanbul, comes some dark metal from Illusions Play. Vitaliy Petrenko doesn’t take music lightly, and the heaviest of riffs are served with a dash of nihilism. It functions as a perfect recipe for chaos, through melodies and rage. You couldn’t argue for anything better. Like Anthony Bourdain said, there’s no place quite like Istanbul. This one is called Morning Dew.
The metal referential
The imagery conjured by reading morning dew is one. The echoing, sprawling sound that comes is another. From the crack of dawn, there is a spray of first life. There is a slow rise with the melodic build-almost representing the time building. As expected, it is the atmospheres which are created that take the front seat. It is a magical experience-conjuring something so heavy, yet something that can rest on top of a single leaf.

Choice of chord progressions are contrasted by the immense vocals-with gruff textural capability. This is how doom has to be delivered-actually believing the effect and desired outcome of it. Illusions Play come together with a strange chemistry-as though they have known each other from past deaths. The result? A cocktail of reality with disillusionment and chaos. Metal at its finest.
