Matt Law Drops Debut Single “Days Like These”

Glasgow-based indie artist Matt Law releases his debut single Days Like These, an indie-pop rock track steeped in college summer nostalgia. Recorded at Riverside Music College, it revives the sound of 60s and 70s rock, drawing clear influence from artists like The Beatles, Arctic Monkeys, and The Lemonheads.

Right from the start, Days Like These sounds like the colour of the sunset from your very first dorm room window, and you kind of miss home. It moves fast, the vocals and percussion don’t sit still for a second, so the song feels like it’s running, more like an opener to a chapter than something that wants to settle.

Meanwhile, the lyrics don’t beat around the bush. “Oh I don’t feel like going out today… days like these they make me alone.” It says exactly what it needs to, and then keeps going. At times, the song is almost hard to keep up with because it keeps running from you, but at the same time, it drags you along with it anyway. The way the lyrics are enunciated helps, pushing that restless energy forward.

Days Like These holds onto innocence—the simplicity of growing up, the simple weight of your own memories of summers spent with friends. It leans into that specific feel-good energy, but never lets it sit too comfortably. The lyrics keep circling past experiences, reaching back for simpler times.
