“Prism” Brings a New Energy to Cas du Pree’s Sound

Dutch alt-pop artist Cas du Pree released the electronic dance-pop single Prism on May 22, 2026. The track marks a noticeable shift toward a more upbeat club-driven sound compared to his earlier, more sombre material. Cas also released an official music video for the single on YouTube as he continues building toward a broader electronic pop direction in his recent work.

Prism opens on soft synth waves and sharp little electronic notes that feel like sunlight suddenly cutting through your bedroom window. The track starts quietly, almost dreamlike, before airy falsettos and layered vocals slowly pull it into this bright dance-pop rhythm that feels light on its feet rather than heavy. It is not the kind of song where people lose themselves inside a packed club. It feels more like swaying around somebody’s apartment at night, city lights shining through the curtains while the night stretches on longer than either of you planned.

Meanwhile, the lyrics, “I’ll be your prism in the dark, I’ll be the one to light the spark,” turn that idea into something romantic while still holding onto a sense of self-awareness. Even lines like, “Let me take it all in to feed my soul, in the heat of this moment let me take control,” feel caught between vulnerability and confidence. Here, the image of a physical prism uses this idea that people give back the same energy they receive. Warmth creates warmth. Darkness creates darkness.
