Melanie Georgiou Captures the Thrill of New Attraction on Upcoming Single “The Rush”

After reaching the US Luminate/Billboard Dance/Electronic Top 40 and earning a place on the Grammy nomination ballots with Sunshine ft. Oscar, British singer, songwriter, and producer Melanie Georgiou returns with The Rush. Set to release in June 2026, this is her second collaboration with Brazilian label G-Mafia, the alternative-pop and electronic track blends Brazilian groove with Georgiou’s self-produced approach, written, recorded, and produced entirely from her own home studio setup.

The Rush opens with this sound that is a burst of colour, like the shapes and flashes you see behind your eyelids when your eyes are closed for too long. “Let’s feel the rush…I’m falling, freefalling to you,” the lyrics carry a kind of citrus-like freshness, reviving a feeling you forgot you knew. It drifts forward at its own pace on a smooth electronic groove, choosing ease over intensity.

It’s the kind of song that feels like the first day back at school, when you accidentally lock eyes with someone across the assembly hall as they brush past you. For a moment, everything seems to stop. The room keeps moving around you, but you’re frozen in place because of how strangely electric that split second feels. Then, as it unfolds, layers of synths and rhythm gradually pull the song forward without ever breaking its easy momentum.

Lyrically, it captures the excitement and uncertainty that come with first attraction. There’s something very immediate about it, and the lines, “Makin’ me light up…” and “If you ever say to, I will be the one who takes it away,” linger in-between curiosity and certainty, those first sparks impossible to shake off. Meanwhile, the vocals are breathy but never fragile. There is intimacy in them, but also confidence. And that is what stands out, how personal the track feels. Written, recorded, and produced by Georgiou herself, the song never loses its sense of closeness. There is a warmth running through The Rush, making it feel like being caught inside the feeling itself.

With its release arriving in June, The Rush is well worth keeping an eye out for!
