Kaitlin Corbett Jones’ debut solo release, Make the World Stand Still, is a vocal-driven pop ballad single. Formerly a lead vocalist and songwriter for Home Sweet Homies, Jones combines her classical vocal training with contemporary pop songwriting, showcasing both expressive storytelling and an impressive five-octave vocal range. The single explores themes of self-discovery, clarity, and finding stillness within an increasingly fast-paced world.

Make the World Stand Still opens on warm, deep strings and a soft piano that immediately pulls emotion out of you. “Why do I want to remember and why do I want to forget you,” the vocals stay in this higher octave that slowly builds toward something bigger. The entire song sounds like something you’d hear someone belting out alone in a karaoke room at the end of the night, completely overwhelmed by emotion and no longer caring who hears it.
“And we could just make the world stand still,” becomes the emotional center of the track, dripping with longing and the desperate wish to freeze time before love slips away completely. The lyrics circle around someone who no longer exists in your life, but still lingers everywhere else—in their smile, in random memories, in tiny details.

Make the World Stand Still carries this strange grief of realizing two people once imagined the same future and now live completely outside of each other’s lives. It paints this image of someone sitting alone in dim blue light, staring out rain-covered windows, replaying memories wishing time could just stand still so they could stay together a little longer or spend more time with that person without time ever passing for them.

Figuring out my path while actively plotting ten others. Serious about my dreams with somewhat chaotic ambition. Will do anything for cats.
