Lynne Gong is an independent composer, guitarist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist based in the United States, with work spanning cinematic music, rock, metal, electronic, indie rock, and pop. She also works in sound design, arranging, mixing, and mastering, and is currently developing a full-length indie rock album while releasing new singles independently. Her 2026 releases include collaborations with Magic Fan, including Cotton-flower Dream, released August 11, 2026.

Cotton-flower Dream is somehow so aptly named. There is something so nostalgic about the beats, like a tune you haven’t heard since childhood but somehow your body remembers. The melody has this bright, floating quality to it, and the whole production feels like it is skipping along, but in a very Tinker-bell-way.

Then the lyrics, “Cotton-flowers bloom in the honeyed sun…chasing dreams we’ve just begun,” build this candy-coloured world where everything feels softer and a little unreal. The lines, “Marshmallow clouds in a sapphire sea,” and “the world becomes a kaleidoscope…of yours and mine,” make it feel like you are driving down a winding road where the sky keeps changing above you. The lyrics keep throwing these little pieces of colour everywhere, from sleepy daisies and drowsy moons to silver rivers and velvet suns. It feels like escaping the ordinary and just following wherever the dream takes you.

Musically, the track carries that same sense of wonder. The beats keep it playful and nostalgic, while the melody gives it this wide-eyed feeling. Midway through, the song rises like rays into the sky, opening everything up before bringing you back into that colourful little world. It feels like finding an old cartoon you loved as a kid and suddenly remembering exactly why.
