Mark’s Paranormal Dysneyland Take Aim on “Living A Lie”

Australian solo project Mark’s Paranormal Dysneyland released the alternative rock single Living A Lie on April 26, 2026. Led by Mark Spinks of Gravel Samwidge, the project blends stripped-back rock with rough, distorted energy and socially charged writing. Featuring guest guitar work from Mark Steiner, the track takes aim at political division, fascism, and modern unrest through a protest-song approach.

Living A Lie opens on a stretched electric guitar note that sounds like matches dragging across concrete right before they catch fire. Then, the track immediately feels tense and unstable. “Got my finger on the trigger…I’m sure they have a family, their death will suit me fine,” comes through in this eerie half-spoken delivery that sounds like a distorted radio announcement echoing through some abandoned no man’s land after everything has already gone wrong.

“My whole fucking life’s a lie,” carries this deep despair and disillusionment underneath it while the soundscape keeps pulling you back and forth between clarity and complete mental collapse. The percussion presses down without ever really loosening its grip, and the rhythm keeps driving forward like somebody spiralling deeper into anger without being able to stop themselves. The guitars feel jagged and restless the entire way through.

Finally, written as a protest song, the track tears into political division, fascism, and the kind of hatred that slowly poisons people from the inside out. As the song barrels toward its climax, everything becomes even more chaotic and unhinged. “No one’s gonna convince me I’m drunk on white supremacy… taught to hate and prepared to die, my whole fucking life’s a lie,” sounds less like a statement and more like somebody violently trying to break themselves out of years of conditioning before it completely destroys them.
