Oddland Returns with Progressive Metal Single “Unilluminate”

Finnish progressive metal band Oddland released Unilluminate on July 14, 2026, through Frontiers Music Srl. The single previews the band’s upcoming concept album, Unilluminate To Illuminate, due August 21. Led by vocalist and guitarist Sakari Ojanen alongside Jussi Poikonen, Joni Palmroth, and Ville Viitanen, the track explores the balance between darkness and light.

Unilluminate opens delicately on notes that sound like footsteps on water. Then the percussion settles in. It surrounds you immediately, but like a silk curtain slowly being drawn closed around you. Before long, the electric guitars come alive, lifting the track into something much heavier without losing that atmosphere it began with.

Meanwhile, the lyrics carry the emotional weight of the song. “A shard of glass in a broken home reflects a light that still shines on you strong,” is such a striking image. Even something broken still catches light. Even after growing up in pain, there is still something worth holding onto. Then, “Run to me, child set me free, come hide with me to find the extraordinary,” almost feels like a conversation between an older self and the child still carrying those wounds. It doesn’t ask you to run from the darkness, but to face it before finding your way out.

Musically, Unilluminate keeps shifting between restraint and power. The guitars crash in, the drums push everything forward, but the quieter moments never disappear completely.
