TuneCore Catalogue Compromised for AI Training as Suno Strikes Deal With France’s Believe Music

This partnership will allow participating artists and labels to make their music available for Suno’s new industry-partner models.

The agreement also includes TuneCore, Believe’s independent artist distribution platform. Artists and labels will choose whether they want to participate. Suno will compensate participating rights holders when their music contributes to the new models, while the companies say the arrangement will include protections around rights and usage.

The partnership marks a change in Believe’s position on Suno. In April 2026, Believe said it would block distribution of music that Suno’s then-current models generated. Under the new agreement, tracks that Suno’s forthcoming industry-partner model generates will qualify for distribution through Believe and TuneCore.

New Safeguards and Artist Choice

Suno also plans to introduce safeguards around the new system. These include transparency tools, watermarking or fingerprinting technology, and limits on downloads. The measures aim to give artists and rights holders more control over how their work enters and moves through Suno’s platform.

Believe founder and CEO Denis Ladegaillerie said the partnership reflects the company’s focus on giving artists and labels a choice over participation while ensuring that they share in the value created by AI. Suno co-founder and CEO Mikey Shulman said the agreement will expand opportunities for independent artists to distribute music, reach listeners and earn from new forms of music creation.

The deal adds Believe to a growing list of music companies working with Suno. Warner Music Group and BMG have also reached agreements with the AI music company.

The wider music industry continues to debate how generative AI companies should train models, license music and compensate rights holders. Suno has faced legal challenges over its use of copyrighted recordings in AI training. The Believe agreement shows how some companies are now trying to build licensed commercial frameworks around the technology while leaving participation in the hands of artists and labels.
