Rae Radick – Rae Radick | Fresh

Rae Radick just released her self-titled debut album, and she delivered big time! From her dynamic and strong vocals, Rae Radick made sure to string you along on this musical journey. Having a 30-minute runtime with 8 songs, the album is fresh and has a great sound. Rae Radick makes sure to give us something new with every song in this album.

Rae Radick often describes herself as, “The Love Child of Shania Twain + Miranda Lambert + a dash of New York City”, and she couldn’t be more right! Her music is a combination of evocative and beautifully written songs combined with well executed pop-rock/blues-y music that makes her a must-listen!

The first song on the album is called Keep ’em Guessing. When I first heard the intro to the song, it immediately reminded me of Queen and Guns N Roses. With a gripping guitar riff, Radick waltzes in with her the most attractive, strong voice that will grab your attention immediately. An affirmation in itself, Keep em Guessing might just become my new girlboss anthem.

The second song, called In a Memory, takes it down a notch and is slow-paced. Radick pulls out a blues-y ballad vibe with this one. The guitar riffs in the background and the harmonies really elevate the song. The bridge of the song is the real hook where we see Radick woo us with her vocals.

The songs Sorry’s Not Good Enough and Circle game have similar upbeat vibes. They remind me of early 2000s Pop-Rock. Both these songs explore themes of being yourself and not falling into toxic patterns. Circle Game explores ideas of being stuck in this great rat race and finding your path in a technology based world.

Supreme Sixteen is a fun take on the idea of celebrating sweet sixteen. Rae Radick is very passionate about redefining the way femininity is viewed, and this song is the perfect definition of it. Rae Radick channels her ideas of being fierce yet vulnerable, classy yet authentic, free thinking into the song.

The Soldier and the Bombshell and Who you’re Meant to Be have an unplugged acoustic feel. The Soldier and the Bombshell, is a heart-touching love ballad that is explores the idea of finding love. A bonus is the clever writing of the song. Who you’re Meant to Be is like the title says – an introspection. It also reminds me of Fight Song by Kelly Clarkson.

The last song on the album is Miss the Most, which is an acoustic ballad. “Take my love and keep it close, My love is what you’ll miss the most…” is the best way to define this song. Being the last song on the album, Rae Radick really leaves everything on the table with this track.

This is a great debut album that explores what the musician actually stands for. I think its really clever that it is self-titled and explores themes that are close to the singer-songwriter’s heart. Mixing her Pennsylvania roots with New York City’s spirit, her sound is an interesting combination of pop, country, and rock. Rae Radick’s vocals are definitely the highlight of her work. This Pennsylvania/New York City based artist is definitely going places!

Go listen to Rae Radick, there’s no way you’ll forget this artist.
