London based singer-songwriter Clara Moschetta just released her third single of 2021 titled Nice Guy. Heavily influenced by jazz, fused with contemporary electronica and cabaret-inspired theatrical storytelling, Clara Moschetta is known for her resounding pop songs which leave a lasting impression on you. Nice Guy begins rather unplugged and soft, with Moschetta’s vocals shining through and accompanied by keys and an interesting snare beat.
The song definitely gives you multiple vibes ranging from Dean Lewis, Taylor Swift and Beyoncé too. After the abrupt ending of a tumultuous dalliance with a chiseled set of cheekbones, Clara Moschetta put pen to paper in the form of her single Cheekbones. What could be considered as a sequel from her previous single Cheekbones, Nice Guy takes the storytelling one step further and gives us more context.
Nice Guy is definitely progressive in the way it builds up to its full jazz-pop potential. The song features well-balanced harmonies and dialogues that will make you play this song on repeat. Clara Moschetta uses her instrumentals to emphasize the way her vocals play around with lyrics. Nice Guy may just be the best song I’ve heard about someone who has wronged you, and that’s a good thing. Clara’s music explores complex themes including politics, sexual assault and suicide, echoing Florence + The Machine and Fiona Apple.
The dark sensibilities of her lyrics and the upbeat, sophistication of the music and harmonies that Moschetta brings to her music sets her apart. Moschetta is a true blue performer, and it comes through in her music.
