The Cure bring their legendary alternative rock sound to Manchester tonight, joined by two acclaimed acts for an eagerly anticipated summer show.
The Cure will headline Live From Wythenshawe Park in Manchester tonight, Friday, August 21, bringing one of alternative music’s most influential bands to the city for one of their few UK shows this year.
The event will also feature performances from Slowdive and Manchester’s own The Slow Readers Club. Slowdive will bring their acclaimed shoegaze sound to the stage, while The Slow Readers Club will deliver their energetic mix of indie and electronic rock.
The Cure formed in Crawley, Sussex, in the late 1970s and have since become one of the defining bands of alternative rock. Led by founding frontman Robert Smith, the current lineup also features Simon Gallup, Jason Cooper, Roger O’Donnell and Reeves Gabrels.
Across nearly five decades, The Cure have performed close to 1,800 shows and released 14 studio albums alongside numerous singles, live recordings, soundtracks and other projects. Their most recent major release, 2024’s Songs Of A Lost World, marked another acclaimed chapter in their career.
The band followed that album with Mixes Of A Lost World in 2025, a triple album curated by Smith and featuring reinterpretations from artists including Orbital, Paul Oakenfold and Four Tet.
The Wythenshawe Park concert forms part of the venue’s growing summer concert series, which began in 2023 with Noel Gallagher and has since welcomed artists including Blossoms, New Order, Fontaines D.C. and Sam Fender.
Fans heading to the show should plan their journey in advance, particularly because of the large expected crowd. Public transport is recommended where possible, while anyone driving should check official event information for designated parking areas and road restrictions before setting off.
The Cure will also perform at Edinburgh Summer Sessions later this month, making their Wythenshawe Park appearance a particularly significant UK date for fans.
