Eternal Returns is an Indian modern metal band known for emotionally charged live performances built on immersion, unpredictability, and raw intensity, carrying the same confrontation and emotional weight from recording to stage. They released a single called ‘Slaver the Fray’. We interviewed them recently; here’s what they have to say!
1. Your track ‘Salver the Fray’ captures intense psychological states through stunning death metal and metalcore that feels fresh to the ears, tell us about the journey of curating something like this.
ER: Salver the Fray is one of the songs from our upcoming album ‘All But Us’ which will be our
3rd full-length album. After all these years of making music, we have organically developed our
signature and unique blend of Metalcore, Melodic Death metal. All three of us personally resonate
with Metalcore and Melodic Death metal and both these genres have been at the core of our
influence as a band.
2. How do you aim to utilise the art of music to the benefit of your listeners? Do you think that music has some special purpose?
ER: For us our Band, our music is our Solace. We live in a world where monotony and oppression
have been normalised to an extent where people have lost the sight of personal wellbeing and
peace. Our music helps us to break these loops and we hope anyone who listens to it finds it
equally inspiring.
3. Tell us about your favorite song that you have worked on so far.
ER: Our favourite song we’ve worked on so far would All But Us. It’s our first title song and we
wrote that song on our Europe tour while in Kosice, Slovakia. All three of us vividly remember
being on our bunk beds in the venue The Colloseum writing this song fully in creative zone. From
a special tour memory of making a demo to a full fledged song which also is the title of our
upcoming album; it’s quite the journey.
4. What is the idea behind “Eternal Returns”. How do you aim to capture the Indian sensibility through your art?
ER: The universe is recurring, and it will continue to do so.
Birth, life, and death are part of the universal law, and that was the idea behind the name Eternal
Returns. Birth and death are not in your control, but life is, music is. Through our music, we try to
deliver that life and energy to the listener.
We’re not trying to be preachy but part from our families, the band is pretty much all we think
about.
5. If someone is listening to your music for the first time, what would you tell them? Give them a little introduction.
ER: A band that has been around for over a decade, played countless shows across India,
released 1 EP, 2 albums, toured Europe and even made it into the Top 50 of the iTunes Germany
Metal Charts yet remained under the radar and continues to be called “underground.”
Honestly, that’s a pretty cool story for the books.

6. You guys have toured abroad as a band and received very well support from the audience. How different, do you think, it is, compared to indian audience? How do you guys manage without a drummer?
ER: Thanks, we really loved the reaction and were thrilled to the amount of support we got. Made
bunch of friends and the bands we toured with became family. That’s the comradery we shared.
That was completely different from what we have seen or felt here. Touring without a drummer
has its own set of pros and cons. No luggage is a big plus 🙂 but the one thing that remains a
constant is there is absolutely no room for error
7. If there could be one thing you can share with your listeners about your art or yourself, what would that be?
ER: We’re just a bunch of dudes who fell in love with metal and we do our job with full honesty.
Quality over quantity. That’s what we thrive on. Our music and our personal journey stands the
test of time.
