An Ocean | An Island is a musical group created in 2022 in the New Jersey/Philadelphia area. Tyler John (composer and producer), guitarist Jim Ellis, bassist Vini Stamato, and drummer Ty Perle make up the band. Their newest single, Bruised Love is an impressive and immersive alternate rock single that is the perfect debut for the collective. The accompaniment opens up the song with an outright flow. It draws you in and lets you stay for the experience. The vocals are soft and dynamic and harmonized with care. The guitar and the drums are memorable and An Ocean | An Island definitely places them smartly.
The alt-rock band highlights its guitar skills and is very well-paced with smart silences. An Ocean | An Island reminds me of bands like Alter Bridge, Evanescence, and a little bit of prog+alt rock vibes. Bruised Love has these moments of clarity where the lyrics and the vocals cut through the music.
An Ocean | An Island is definitely making its debut in a big way with Bruised Love. I look forward to hearing more music from them!
