New Preamp Showcase: Aguilar AG + Milkman Sound The Amp Stereo

Push your sonic boundaries with the Aguilar AG’s impactful tones and tonal adaptability. And for a simplified stereo experience, look into The Amp Stereo!

A preamp pedal condenses the preamp functionality into a compact stomp box or pedal configuration, essentially mirroring the preamp found within your amplifier. By employing a preamp pedal, you eliminate the necessity for large combo amplifiers or amplifier heads, allowing you to connect directly to a powered PA system instead.

The beauty of the preamp pedal, much like the preamp in your combo or amp head, is that the signal that comes out stays clean. This lets you crank the volume and shape the EQ, but still send out a clean tone to the rest of the signal chain. This is especially effective when using just a preamp direct into a combo amp, or head and cab.

Milkman Sound The Amp Stereo

In 2018, Milkman introduced the 50-watt “The Amp,” followed by the higher headroom model, “The Amp 100.” These pedal platforms seamlessly integrated tube preamp and analog solid-state power amp technologies, accompanied by a cabinet simulator. These offerings built upon Milkman’s reputation for delivering vintage character and exceptional versatility.

Now, expanding its horizons even further, Milkman presents the Amp Stereo. Distinguished by its departure from tube technology, the Amp Stereo is an all-solid-state creation that brings the price point down compared to its predecessor, the Amp 100. The central concept behind this innovation is to provide a remarkable clean platform that shines on its own while synergizing effectively with external pedals when connected to the pedal chain’s front end. This includes stereo reverb, delay, and modulation pedals, enhancing the potential for creative soundscapes.

Also, this model offers users the choice of two high-power mono channels or a singular stereo channel. The decision to include stereo options acknowledges the growing popularity of stereo effects. However, Milkman’s intention was also to simplify the user experience. The Amp Stereo boasts extensive headroom, minimizing the risk of preamp breakup while delivering optimal fidelity. Its balanced EQ presents independent treble and bass controls for both the left and right sides, ensuring a tailored sonic experience. The versatility continues with the availability of various outputs—speaker, headphone, and direct—all offering stereo capabilities.

Furthermore, you get 50-watts for each of these channels in 16 ohms, 100-watts per side at 8 ohms and 200-watts at 4 ohms. You can use different ohm valued speakers at the same time. The USA-made Amp Stereo’s features walnut side panels and its Sum footswitch enables you to combine the inputs together to run out of one cab. Additionally, the Phase footswitch allows you to correct cabinets that might be out of phase with a single button.

Features:

WATTAGE
50W 16ohm Output x2
100W 8ohm Output x2
200W 4ohm Output x2

FOOTSWITCHES
SUM converts the 2 independent channels to mono (both outputs)
PHASE flips phase on the right channel (useful for wet/dry)
