English art rock band 10cc has announced the dates for their highly anticipated 2024 UK road trip, appropriately titled the Ultimate Ultimate Greatest Hits Tour. Building on the success of last year’s Ultimate Greatest Hits Tour, the band is set to deliver a captivating series of performances across the United Kingdom.
Graham Gouldman, the sole remaining founder member of 10cc, expressed his excitement about the upcoming tour, emphasizing the band’s unwavering dedication to their iconic songs. Gouldman stated, “In our formative years, it was all about the songs – and it’s the same for us now. We play them with love and energy, hit after hit after hit… we show no mercy!”
The UK tour begins in Bristol on 7 March and comprises 18 concerts, including a magnificent return to London’s 5,200-seat Royal Albert Hall on 25 March.
Renowned for their pop-art flair, 10cc boasts an impressive catalogue of hits that have left an indelible mark on the music industry. Their notable songs include classics like “Rubber Bullets,” “Dreadlock Holiday,” “I’m Not In Love,” “Donna,” and “I’m Mandy Fly Me.” In the UK alone, these chart-toppers contributed to the band’s impressive record of 15 million album sales.
Joining Gouldman on stage for this exhilarating tour will be lead guitarist, bassist, and vocalist Rick Fenn, guitarist and percussionist Iain Hornal, keyboardist and guitarist Keith Hayman, and drummer and keyboardist Paul Burgess. This talented quartet is set to deliver electrifying performances that showcase the band’s timeless music.
Recently, 10cc completed their longest-running tour of Australia and New Zealand, captivating audiences with their infectious sound. The band’s influence even reached the legendary ABBA icon Björn Ulvaeus, who attended their show in Sweden. Following the performance, Gouldman and Ulvaeus connected backstage and arranged to share a Swedish stage together in July, where they will engage in a discussion about the art of songwriting.
Before the UK tour in Spring, 10cc will head to Europe this Autumn for a 17-date tour across Holland, Belgium and Germany.
Formed in Stockport in 1972, 10cc quickly rose to prominence with their unique blend of rock music. The original lineup consisted of four exceptionally talented musicians who had been collaborating since 1968. Notably, each member of 10cc possessed a remarkable range of skills as multi-instrumentalists, singers, writers, and producers. The band’s creative hub, Strawberry Studios, served as their recording sanctuary for the majority of their discography.
With the announcement of the Ultimate Ultimate Greatest Hits Tour, 10cc’s fans in the UK can look forward to a series of unforgettable concerts. As the band continues to captivate audiences worldwide, their music remains a testament to their enduring legacy in the realm of art rock and experimental pop.
