Mike Shinoda Delivers Killer New Soundtrack – ‘In My Head’ for Latest Installment of Renowned Slasher Franchise: Scream VI

Only weeks after Linkin Park’s bootleg track ‘Lost’ made waves in the global music industry, Mike Shinoda has managed to entice fans once more with the recent release of his track ‘In My Head.’ The new single is a part of the upcoming movie Scream VI and features Arizona-based alternative pop musician Kailee Morgue. After the sixth instalment of Scream opened at the box office on March 10, announcing the return of the horror franchise, the movie has already raised over $67 million internationally.

The latest effort from Mike Shinoda is an ode to his nu-metal roots as the song explores lo-fi and electronica vibes and stands to be a power-packed OST. The record was released on March 10 and sets a new standard for experimental music that has been used as soundtracks for horror flicks. ‘In My Head’ also features a dark dystopian animated video that suits the general artistic vision of the slasher franchise. In addition, Mike Shinoda has reportedly co-written and produced the song ‘Still Alive’ which features Demi Lovato and also appears on Scream VI.

“A huge thrill” – says Mike Shinoda on Scream VI collaboration

Speaking to the press, the multi-instrumentalist noted, “I love that this moment is both a look backwards and a look forward, releasing an Anniversary retrospective of Meteora and brand-new music at the same time.” Furthermore, he added, “My whole career, I’ve jumped from Linkin Park to solo stuff to working with others, and it feels great to dive back into that rhythm. Plus, having both ‘In My Head’ and Demi Lovato’s ‘Still Alive’ in the new Scream VI film is a huge thrill.”

Mike Shinoda and Kailee Morgue teased the arrival of ‘In My Head’ with a number of skit promo videos which also featured the movie’s iconic character Ghost Face. The new soundtrack precedes the arrival of Meteora’s 20th-anniversary reissue of Linkin Park’s iconic album Meteora, which is set for an April 7 release.

Paramount Pictures’ Scream VI was directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett and written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. It is the sequel to Scream (2022) and stars Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Jenna Ortega, Hayden Panettiere, and Courteney Cox.
