K-Pop idol J-Hope cracks Billboard Hot 100 for his collaboration with J. Cole on latest release – “On The Street”
K-pop idol J-Hope of BTS fame has achieved his highest ever ranking for a solo effort on the Billboard 100 chart. According to Billboard’s report on March 14, J-Hope debuted at #60 on the weekly chart. Collaborating with American rapper and producer J. Cole, the artist dropped his brand new digital record titled “On The Street”earlier this month on March 3.
Besides making it to the Hot 100 chart, the song has also managed to rank second on their Digital Song Sales charts, falling short only to Nicki Minaj’s “Red Ruby Da Sleeze.” A testament to the South Korean artist’s growing popularity, the achievement comes as a welcome milestone for the global music industry. In addition, the song’s success continues to represent the growing love and support of the fanbase that K-pop has nurtured in recent times.
J-Hope became the first member of BTS to enter the Billboard Hot 100 as a soloist in 2019 when his single “Chicken Noodle Soup”, featuring singer Becky G, debuted at number 81.

J. Cole is one of the self-proclaimed role models of the BTS member. In recent news, J-Hope declared to BTS fans (commonly referred to as ‘ARMY’) that he has begun the process to be enlisted in the military. “On the Street” is the first new solo track from J-Hope since his collaboration with the Korean R&B artist “Crush”. Previously on January 2023, J. Cole dropped a surprise single titled “Procastination (broke).”
In a 13-minute behind the scenes footage of the “On The Street” video, the two artists can be seen shooting on the Manhattan bridge. When Cole begins recording his segments, Hope grins, wondering at how he got from watching the rapper on TV as a youngster to co-starring in a video with him. “Is this real life? Is this a dream or is this real life?” J-Hope inquires as the two shake hands.
Furthermore, commenting on what it felt like to work with his idol, J-Hope stated, “Being able to meet my muse, J. Cole is nerve-wracking.” Additionally, he also wrote a letter to J. Cole saying, “You’re always an inspiration to me and always give me good energy.”
