Post-Grunge pioneers Queens of the Stone Age (QOTSA) have announced the release of their new 10-track LP. Matador Records will release In Times New Roman… on June 16. The continuation to 2017’s Villains includes the leading single “Emotion Sickness,” which is out now on all major streaming platforms. Today will see the release of a video directed by Liam Lynch.
The 8th studio effort by QOTSA, In Times New Roman… was produced by the band and mixed by Mark Rankin, and was mostly recorded and mixed at frontman Joshua Homme’s Pink Duck Studios. Additionally, the cover art and double album gatefold for the vinyl edition were designed by Boneface.
“Emotion Sickness” feels like a natural progression for Queens of the Stone Age, who over time have paired their growling guitars with a whimsical swing in their step rather than a hard rock scream. “People come and go on the breeze,” he croons. “For a whole life?/ Possibly.” It’s an interesting line to hear in Josh Homme’s first song since his highly publicized custody battle with ex-wife/Distillers singer Brody Dalle, which has been marred by restraining orders and mutual allegations of abuse.
