Tame Impala Musician Kevin Parker Drops New Single for Dungeons & Dragons Movie, 24 Hours After Surgery
The psychedelic music project of multi-instrumentalist and producer Kevin Parker, Tame Impala has just dropped a brand new single called “Wings of Time.” The track was composed as an OST for the upcoming movie Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.
The news comes as a breath of fresh air to Tame Impala fans after Parker had recently posted pictures of himself in a hospital, after he underwent surgery for a fractured hip while running a half marathon. The Aussie musician stated to the press, “Being asked to do a track for the ‘D&D’ soundtrack seemed like an unmissable opportunity to indulge in my long time love of fantasy prog rock.”
Parker has contributed to two other film soundtracks lately; he joined Diana Ross for their Minions: Rise of the Gru song “Turn Up the Sunshine.” And he remixed Elvis Presley’s “Edge of Reality” for Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis biopic.
“Wings of Time” was created in collaboration with Perth-based band Pond’s front man Nicholas Allbrook. The two of them booked a villa in Spain while on tour which helped them with the state of mind that was necessary to arrange the soundtrack for the globally famous franchise based on the table top game. In addition, Parker also declared that Allbrook was “the person I know appreciates this subject matter the most.”
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves was directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley. The new installment will have no connection to the prior trilogy and stars Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis and Hugh Grant. The movie is set to hit the theatres on 31st March 2023.
