Alter Bridge Premiere New Music Video for ‘Tested and Able’ Off Self-Titled Album

The Alter Bridge video features the band’s live performance, with Myles Kennedy and Mark Tremonti on both guitars and vocals, Brian Marshall on bass and Scott Phillips on drums. Its release comes ahead of the final US leg of ‘What Lies Within Tour’, which begins on November 5 at Franklin Music Hall in Philadelphia.

The 18-date run will feature support from Canadian rock band Big Wreck and American singer-songwriter Tim Montana. The tour will travel through cities including Cleveland, San Antonio, Anaheim and Denver before concluding at the Silver Legacy Grande Exposition Hall in Reno on December 5.

‘Tested and Able’ appears on ‘Alter Bridge’, the band’s eighth studio album, which was released on January 9 through Napalm Records. The 12-track record once again saw the band working with longtime producer Michael “Elvis” Baskette. Recording took place over two months in 2025, split between Eddie Van Halen’s famed 5150 Studios in California and Baskette’s studio in Florida.

The decision to finally give an Alter Bridge record the band’s own name came more than two decades into their career. Speaking to UK music magazine Rock Sound, Tremonti explained that the band does not usually enter the studio with an overarching concept for an album, instead developing records song by song. Once the latest collection had taken shape, however, he felt that it was strong enough to carry the Alter Bridge name.

Alter Bridge reflects on the record

Tremonti also joked about the practical usefulness of a self-titled record in an increasingly deep discography, suggesting that albums such as ‘Alter Bridge’ and ‘AB III’ can act as useful landmarks for listeners trying to navigate the band’s catalogue.

Kennedy also reflected on how Alter Bridge’s outlook has evolved since the band formed more than two decades ago. He described their early years as being partly about survival and finding an identity from record to record. Having an established audience changes that situation, but Kennedy suggested that success introduces the danger of complacency.

Formed in Florida in 2004, Alter Bridge emerged from the musical partnership of Tremonti, Marshall and Phillips, who had previously played together in Creed, alongside Kennedy, formerly of The Mayfield Four. Their debut album, ‘One Day Remains’, arrived the same year. More than 20 years later, ‘Tested and Able’ finds the quartet still operating with the same lineup while taking their latest record back onto the road.
