“Only You” by Carl Kammeyer is a song about remembering who stood beside you before you reached where you are today. Behind every individual’s journey are people whose names never appear in the story, but whose presence helped shape it. Kammeyer gives those quiet acts of love a melody, turning this realisation into a song. “Only You” sways between pop accessibility and R&B intimacy while retaining the feeling of something deeply personal. The title initially sounds like a straightforward declaration of romantic love, but the sentiment behind the song reaches further. The song has a deeper emotional dimension that is more about appreciation.

The song brings together the 1990s R&B with the polished energy of contemporary pop. What makes the song particularly engaging is the sincerity behind its expression. The lyrics allows the listener to find their own memories and meanings within them. Musically, the song is an interesting mix of synth and modern beats, creating a soulful originality that is playlist-friendly. Kammeyer’s voice adds in a texture of warmth and his lyrical sincerity carries a gentle vulnerable undertone.

Carl Kammeyer sees music as a deeply personal form of self-expression, bringing together notes, lyrics and emotions to tell stories that come from within. His creative world is rooted in indie music and the honest journey behind making it, but his passions extend beyond songwriting to cooking, fishing and storytelling. As described by Kammeyer this song is inspired by the realisation of how certain people have supported him throughout his life. Believing in him even before he could believe in himself.
