Modern Guilt – Joy Control | Infectious

Modern Guilt is a five-piece Alternative Rock and Britpop band hailing from London. The quintet consists of Jaz(vocals/guitar), Andreas Podda (lead guitar), Scott Thomson (drums), Glyn Evans (keys/organs), and Dan Williams (bass). Having made quite the name for themselves in the UK, Modern Guilt has been tearing it up in the scene. Following the success of You’re Welcome, their last EP, the band has released Joy Control.

The infectious melodies and catchy tunes speak for themselves. However, Joy Control seems to have taken Modern Guilt to the next level. The hypnotic drums keep you fixed to the track as Jaz’s vocals guide you through Joy Control. The guitar work is intricate and so playful while the synth plays off of that, creating a joyful countermelody. The bass is absolutely sublime – keeping the track groovy as heck! I would be amiss to leave out how cohesive the band sounds. There’s nothing greater than hearing a band that just clicks. And let me tell you that these lads have absolutely blown me away. With a sound that encompasses the whole Britpop genre, I can’t think of a better band to take the helm and steer this ship.

Modern Guilt has got everything you need from the modern musician. If you’d like to catch these guys on the road, they’ve got shows coming up soon. Head on over to their Spotify to find out when! While you’re there, you may as well check out the rest of their discography.

I listen to and make silly noises while analysing why people behave the way they do.
