JBL has introduced AI-powered tech and a breakthrough discovery as they revealed their Bandbox series of practice amps this year at NAMM.
JBL has entered the AI-powered guitar tech space with the launch of BandBox, a smart practice amp and portable speaker featuring real-time stem separation. The new lineup includes two models : the BandBox Solo and BandBox Trio – both powered by JBL’s on-device “Stem AI” technology that can isolate or remove vocals, guitar, or drums from any track instantly.
Designed for musicians who want flexible, interactive practice sessions, Stem AI allows players to transform songs into custom backing tracks without needing cloud processing or an internet connection.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vuRlN7M_Hw

The compact BandBox Solo delivers 30 watts of output and includes a single guitar/microphone input. It connects to the JBL One app, offering a range of amp models and effects such as phaser, chorus, and reverb. Built-in tools include a tuner, metronome, looper, and USB-C connectivity for recording or laptop integration. The rechargeable unit offers up to six hours of playtime.
Sorting Band Rehearsal Scenes
The larger BandBox Trio is aimed at group rehearsals, offering 135 watts of output, four instrument inputs, and a built-in four-channel mixer, along with all Solo features.
“JBL BandBox is created with musicians’ needs in mind, and is made possible by cutting-edge technology,” says Carsten Olesen, President of Consumer Audio at JBL’s parent company, Harman.
“This is the first speaker to feature an on-device Stem AI algorithm capable of removing vocals or instruments, without the need for cloud processing or an internet connection. With this breakthrough, it’s easier than ever to practice, improve, and enjoy playing music either on your own or with friends.”
The BandBox Solo and Trio are priced at $249 and $599, respectively.
