Eminem Announces Release Date for new Album “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)”

Detroit rapper Eminem has announced the release date for his new album, “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce),” set to drop on Friday, July 12. This will be Eminem’s first studio album since 2020’s “Music to Be Murdered By” and its deluxe edition, “Music to Be Murdered By – Side B.”

Eminem recently released the single “Houdini” and also released another new track, “Tobey,” yesterday.

In May, Eminem teased his upcoming album by publishing an obituary for his alter ego, Slim Shady, in the Detroit Free Press. The eulogy described Slim Shady as “a product of Detroit who began his career there as a rogue splinter in the flourishing underground rap scene of the mid to late 1990’s.” It highlighted Shady’s rise to fame in 1999 with his hit single “My Name Is,” which introduced his unique and dark style to a broader audience.

The obituary, titled “Slim Shady Made Lasting Impressions,” noted that Shady’s existence “could only come to a sudden and horrific end” and concluded with the hope that Slim Shady may “find the peace in an afterlife that he could not find on Earth.”

Eminem’s career began with the release of the “Slim Shady EP” in 1997, followed by the “Slim Shady LP” in 1999. To mark the 20th anniversary of the “Slim Shady LP,” Eminem released an expanded edition in 2019.

Eminem’s 2020 album “Music to Be Murdered By” topped the Billboard 200 and featured artists like Young M.A, Ed Sheeran, and the late Juice WRLD. Eminem has continued to make notable appearances, including at the Academy Awards and the Super Bowl LVI halftime show.
