Soul Jams came to the city of joy to spread love, and laughter and raise the spirit of music and madness among the youngsters
The party was at Park Street Social on the 26th of April 2025. Where the very first edition of homegrown, nationwide, indie open-mic, Soul Jams took place. The event hosted a list of over 10 indie acts from the city along with a dedicated jamming session by the organisers in the end, one that had crowd interaction at the crux, and involvement and inclusiveness as the principal idea.

Who created Soul Jams?
The founder of Soul Jams is Bangalore-based music events entrepreneur Ajay Varghese.

Each Soul Jams event is a three-part journey:
Soul Jamming – The community becomes the artist in a spontaneous, free-flowing jam session open to everyone.
Soul Open Mic – 10 indie voices will perform live to a crowd of open-hearted music lovers.
Social Circle – An interactive mixer to connect like-minded people through games, vibes, and flower-powered bonding.
Where does Soul Jams take place?
Born as an intimate gathering in Bangalore in May 2022, they’ve since grown into a pan-India movement with a presence in 6 cities. Hosting sessions in Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune & Kolkata. Expanding to 15+ cities in 2025.

What started in Bangalore has now spread out across 6+ Indian cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune and now Kolkata has been added to the list. It was a night of excitement as the crowd revelled in indie acoustic music and abundant self-love.
Soul Jams – An evening filled with love, laughter and inclusivity
The evening started with the ‘Soul Open Mic’ and a young 17-year-old Abhijeet’s first-ever live performance, as the crowd cheered the lad on while he performed his original contemporary hip-hop numbers. The guests were greeted at the gate with a Soul Jams visiting card and flowers. The crowd was energetic, interactive and soon on their feet!
From Bollywood superhits to Bengali rock classics, the line-up was diverse and delivered stellar performances for the audience. While some artists chose rock hits like Pink Floyd’s ‘Wish You Were Here,’ others chose cult classics like A.R.Rahman’s ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya.’ In addition, some artists chose to sing Bengali crowd favourites by artists like Fossils and Moheener Ghoraguli!
With interactive games to keep the crowd engaged in between performances, the evening soon escalated into a complete frenzy as the night drew to a close. The final crescendo came in the form of the renowned jamming session that every Soul Jams event is known for, otherwise known as ‘Soul Jamming’ -where the community becomes the artist in a spontaneous, free-flowing jam session open to everyone. The organisers took it upon themselves to be the entertainers for the night and joined the dance floor with guitars around their necks, for some flower-powered bonding!
With a promise of a bigger brighter future
Soul Jams aims to become the next big thing in the indie music scene. To be a space where everyone feels like a main character. When Sinusoidal Music asked Founder Ajay Varghese about his plans for the future, “16 cities,” he exclaimed!
