Tate Sedar is a music composer, producer and DJ born and raised in San Francisco. He picked up music production at the age of ten and continued to pursue it academically at music school in London. He currently resides in LA and his latest single “Our Goodbye” featuring fellow artist Liv Kennedy is an upbeat addition to his carefully curated discography.

“Our Goodbye” is proof of Tate Sedar’s immersive experience as a DJ. People often underestimate the power of the pause and the slow-down in EDM forgetting that its presence makes the build up for a drop possible. Tate Sedar holds the tension of the track in the palm of his hands, plays with energy levels and allows for an acoustic pre-chorus that makes the following drop very rewarding. The vocals are high-pitched and layered and the overall track is extremely well produced.

The choice of sonic palette is unique and it is evident that he has handpicked the interesting elements in them to create a new musical experience for a listener. Tate Sedar uses an unconventional beat and urgent staccato guitar notes as rhythmic percussion. The songwriting explores heartbreak while the whisper-filled ad-libs add atmosphere. I deeply enjoyed the fact that the track continues to experiment with instrumentation in the second verse instead of following formulaic route and replicating the first verse.
