Manchester based independent artist Sukhdeep Singh Krishan known more prominently by his artist name Sukh has released his latest single “Faith” from his upcoming 2024 album “Heading East”. Sukh has been releasing music for over a decade and the production on this new track by Rox Capriotti screams quality!

“Faith” takes its own sweet time to grow on you. The four-chord progression in the chorus sticks and tugs on your heartstrings; it was the first thing I held on to. The percussion gives consistent upbeat energy letting the vocals take centre stage while the synths add atmosphere. The high tone keys in the background most heard in the second verse bring to the song a certain magical element. Sukh’s vocals are standard, leaving me wishing for a little more variation. The structure of the verses felt slightly overwritten to me and I thought they could have been constricted for the sake of coherence.
The mellowed down bridge complimented the guitar solo and I thought it was an important creative choice to end the track with “In our hearts we have faith” instead of returning to the catchy yet insistent chorus. Lyrically the track explores themes of doing all one can for the sake of love. The literal words such as “blowing in the breeze, swimming in the sea” make for visual descriptions of moments spent together in love painting momentary pictures.
“Faith” sets the stage for Sukh’s upcoming work, giving us a taste of what the 2024 album “Heading East” might feel like. I look forward to the release and wish him the best!
