The track starts off with vocals that are deep and sad yet slightly sultry which are repeated during the low energy sections of the track. “I Wish I Could” uses clicks for percussion and the synth for ambience liberally. The percussion builds up to a drop within the first 30 seconds of the track ensuring that the listener doesn’t need to wait too long. The distance between each high energy section is not too much and each beat after the drop uses different percussion tones to avoid the feeling of repetition. At some points Tate Sedar makes us wait for a drop which adds variety.  Some parts of the beat are dry in a good way, having no synth which serves as a versatile juxtaposition to the more synth-focused flowy sections.

To me the key to electronic music lies in the control of energy and a good DJ in my opinion knows how to guide the energy of a crowd. This is easier to do live as the vibe is physically palpable, but even within a produced track that people listen to in a private sphere, it is important for a track to have a build-up and a release. A lot of the production in the current EDM landscape is either consistently in your face or never builds up to anything. I found that Tate Sedar knows the pulse of the listener and is able structurally create highs and lows without missing a beat or letting it ever get boring.
