Singer-songwriter Jenni Dale Lord’s Album ‘A Million Moments is a Timeless Love Letter

‘A Million Moments’ by Singer-songwriter Jenni Dale Lord is such a beautiful heartfelt album with each of the songs being a reflection of a million intimate moments from her life.

The album ‘A Million Moments’ opens with the song ‘Dinner and a Heartbreak’ which is like a slow dance with regret. It’s a classic blend of country and contemporary accentuated by Jenni Dale Lord’s powerful and emotive voice. The guitar arrangement is simple and it’s the lyrics which is the highlight. ‘Dinner and a Heartbreak’ is a soft confession of love that was lost.

‘I Still Think About You’ is a wonderful duet by Jenni and Jerrod Medulla reminiscing memories that were never lived. Lovers split by time remain together with the feelings of the memories that they could have spent. The song gives me a very Bryan Adam feel and has that earnest need for lovers to meet. The racy electric guitar and drums imitate the rush of passion, that even time couldn’t stop the feelings. ‘I Still Think About You’ is a mix of nostalgia, gratitude, and a little wistfulness felt by the heart.

One of the best melodies in the album, ‘Sailing’ is a song of hope and believing in the innocent heart desires. “Fantasy gets the best of me, when I’m sailing, all part of the reverie, every word is a symphony. Won’t you believe me?” the words are of the soul that Jenni is baring so vulnerably in this song. “Well it’s not far back to Sanity, at least it’s not for me, and if the wind is right you could sail away and find serenity”. The metaphor of sailing is so beautifully aligned with deep love and trust in the Creator. Musically, ‘Sailing’ is stripped back, letting Jenni’s voice carry the delicate depth of the poetry.

Lifting the mood volcanically is ‘I’d Like To Have a Boyfriend’ “but my man says no, I’ve been something more just a one-man show”. From the soulful voice, Jenni’s tone change dramatically to this ‘cowboy’ attitude with dry humour. The song has an easy country groove and a feet-tapping candour conversation with a close friend, admitting to wanting something without any complexity.

It’s telling us that the love needs a ‘TuneUp’ right after The Man denied her a Boyfriend. A quirky number with weathered well-worn guitar in the background. Followed by a sunny song ‘Ready Set Summer’ and another heartache number ‘If Leaving You Were Easy’; Janni Dale Lord leaves us with a varied list in this emotions-packed Album ‘A Million Moments’.

My absolute favourite from ‘A Million Moments’ Album is the eighth song, ‘I’m a Little Teapot’. A funny, sensual, deeply feminine, completely whimsical number won my heart. “I’m a very special Teapot, yes it’s true. So here’s an example of what I can do…” best if you listen to the song. Jenni’s voice chameleons once again to mirror the heat of the song and it’s a delight listening to her.

‘Wake Up Again’ is a beautiful love song, apt for dedicating to a loved one distanced by time, and ‘Story of Your Life’ is a song of strength and unfathomable faith in life. The song with the album name “A Million Moments’ is a deeply personal number about lost chances and regrets. Extremely well crafted with a rich impressionable sound. Ending numbers ‘Whole Lotta Nada’ and Spanish titled “Besame Mucho’ are full of fun and quintessential love songs respectively.

The most wonderful thing about Jenni Dale Lord’s ‘A Million Moments’ is the warmth of acceptance that percolates out of most of her songs. It’s rich, deep, mature, a lot of love and so very soulful.
