‘Echezona’ by Ényì is a celebration of identity, strength, and wilderness that is Women. All through the nine songs in the album, Ényì’s music transcends boundaries.
Amazing is a peppy start to the Album and a danceable, beautiful tribute to women. Incorporating the Nigerian Igbo language in the lyrics, ‘Amazing’ is a charming beginning to a surprise-filled Echezona list. Not only does it uplift the mood instantly, but you cannot help but start tapping your feet to its beats. This hip-hop number, along with helping your hips move, also has tremendous word power. The song celebrates women and their hardships in the world today, carrying truly heart-warming lyrics. “I know this life, as we know it, is a hassle..I know you are going through it, you’re Amazing! I pray for you night & day.”
In the song Truthfully Ényì produces such a raw emotion that kicks off a soothing acoustic. It is a self-professed number expressing the ingenuity of the singer that we cannot help but be in his full power. Which, fortunately and unfortunately, holds a clear mirror for all the women in his life, making both bad & good girls cry. The song reflects the importance of embracing individuality. Musically, ‘Truthfully’ is a twisty indie-pop number and lyrically pretty tough, yet vulnerable with an empowering ending.

Rare is a rare mix of beats, vocal styles, lyrical depth, and eloquence. Ényì here reminds his lover of the rare love that only he carries, and that which is pure like his heart. “Sunny or Windy. When one leaves, there’s plenty.” The words derive from the painful emotional state of lovers who have been betrayed and hurt. ‘Rare’ is unique, and the production stands out with its hypnotic tones and melodic drama.
Evolve is a must-listen for all men. I’m not being gender biased here. But seriously, this world has a lot to learn from African me. “She tends to poke at my ego. She brings me back to ground zero.” ‘Evolve’ revolves around how Ényì is ready to evolve for the woman he loves, even having established his ingenuity. Once again, establishing very powerful lyrics, the song is a white horse. Get ready to ride this one, ladies!

Locked In, locks in this endearing album by Ényì, along with an impressive hip-hop twist with JPRiZM. The song is about clearing up the past and emptying the nest for the future to come and settle in. “As for the lady I’m loving, she ain’t need any introduction. End of discussion.” ‘Locked In’ has a slightly sarcastic take on all the ex-lovers and situationships, which is common with a rap number, and leaves a lasting impression.
‘Echezona’ in the Igbo language of Nigeria means friend, and this album by Ényì is a true gift of gratitude for the friends who conform to the other half of the population. This LP, with its mystical African grooviness and hip-hop beats, captures themes that are cohesive with the needs of the times.
