What a mess it is to be a human. When Life is given without guidelines and we screw it. And when Life is given with awareness, it becomes a burden. Clinging between the wrong path to hell and the right path to heaven is the balance called ‘being human’, which is gravely forgotten in this dark world today. ‘Do You’ by Danni Davis of In The Shallows is an I admit and I accept and I forgive song for the Self that has wandered around and finally returned home.

An intimate song that feels so personal. Love is universal and easy to feel, but only when others shower it on us, and not when we have to do it for ourselves. Recognising the ‘I’ beyond its the wrongs & mistakes, and to forgive even after ‘saying things that you don’t mean and seeing things that can’t be unseen’. Paekākāriki based ‘In the Shallows’ featuring Welsh singer-songwriter Danni Davis, hits home in the punchy new track ‘Do You’ is truly an ode to the shared experience of what it is to be human.
Danni Davis co-produced this finger-tapping song ‘Do You’. Multi-talented Davis also played the guitar, bass, keys, percussion and all vocals on her first solo outing. She has not only produced but also directed the music video. In The Shallows’ started as a performing folk duo at small shows all around Aotearoa, now they have grown to play at major festivals, evolving into a more diverse and intentionally pop sound.
